First National Bank Celebrates Gratitude

On World Gratitude Day and Every Day

Gratitude (n): the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

On September 21st the world celebrates Gratitude Day, a celebration that originated in Hawaii in 1965 when an international gathering decided that it would be a good idea to have one day per year to express gratitude and appreciation for the many wonderful things to be found in the world. At First National Bank, however, we have been grateful on World Gratitude Day, and every day in between, since we were founded 1857.  We are most grateful for our customers, our employees and our communities for helping to make our neighborhoods and the world a better place.

Grateful for our customers.
It’s obvious that a bank cannot exist without its customers. So when you turn to First National Bank for your financial needs, we consider it an honor and we show our appreciation by providing you with top-notch products and services, longstanding relationships and a customer experience that is second to none.

What’s not so obvious is that our customers enable us to do good things for others.  When you trust us with your savings or checking accounts, we are able to give out loans that make things happen in a community that may not otherwise happen. For example, when a loan is given to a consumer, it enables them to realize dreams such as owning a home so that they can build equity and start creating wealth.  When a loan is given to an entrepreneur, they have the ability to start or grow a business, create more local jobs, and give back to the community.  Both of these scenarios simultaneously help strengthen the communities we call home.  For that we are thankful and serving our customers is truly a privilege for which we remain grateful.

Grateful for our employees.
We believe First National Bank employees are among the best in the world and are a key driver of our success.  They invest a significant amount of time and talent into our organization each and every day; they serve our customers by providing top-notch products and services and financial expertise; they help build our communities by volunteering their time, talent, and treasure; and they make each other better along the way by supporting and encouraging one another. Each employee brings passion, integrity and respect to work every day, making First National Bank an extraordinary place to work and bank with.  We know our employees don’t have to work here, they choose to work here.  For that we are forever grateful and vow to continuously provide a positive working environment, career opportunities and benefits that help our employees and their families thrive.

Grateful for our communities.
Our communities are the places that we get the privilege to call home.  For that reason alone, we are grateful.  They span across seven states and are made up of our employees, customers, noncustomers, businesses, neighborhoods, and cultural destinations.

It has been our longstanding vision to show appreciation to our communities by helping them to remain strong and successful.  That’s why we support more than 1,200 nonprofit organizations across our footprint who are working to strengthen their communities through initiatives such as building educated workforces, strengthening local economies, revitalizing neighborhoods and increasing access to affordable housing, just to name a few.  For their work, we are forever grateful.  Their work creates strong communities where everyone thrives: entrepreneurs have the skills to start new businesses; more local jobs that pay a livable wage are available; and individuals are able to obtain stable housing, provide for their families and invest back into the community.

While September 21st is Gratitude Day, we are grateful every day for our customers, communities and employees.  Learn more about First National Bank and our passion for our customers, employees and our communities by clicking on 'Home.'
