Raised in Newman Grove, Nebraska, Barry Benson was an active member on his family’s farm, raising cattle, pigs, corn, and soybeans. Barry received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1997, and has been with First National Bank since November of 1999 when he was hired as a Commercial Lender/Business Banker.
In 2014, Benson began his current role as Market President, focusing on growing the Bank through Ag and Commercial loans and deposits as well as serving the banking needs of the community and surrounding area.
He also serves as a board member for the Fremont YMCA (past president), the Greater Fremont Development Council (past president), Fremont Rotary Club (past president), and Fremont Area Community Foundation. Barry is on the board of First National Bank (Fremont Market), and the Washington County Bank (in Blair).
Barry and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Fremont with their three children. Jennifer is also employed by First National, as a Managing Director in Wealth Management. Barry’s hobbies include attending his children’s activities, golfing, and Husker football.
