Credentials

With over nine years of experience in the banking industry, Derek brings a wealth of expertise to his role. Before joining FNBO in 2021, he served as a Credit Analyst II, where he conducted credit investigations and financial analyses to assess credit risks. He was selected for Union Bank and Trust’s Leadership Development Program and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Leadership Council for the Lincoln Young Professionals Group.

Derek earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Business Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he also completed his Master of Business Administration. He is an active member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, the Nebraska Bankers Association (Young Bankers of Nebraska Committee Member), and serves as a United Way Loaned Executive, further solidifying his commitment to professional and community engagement.

Derek is a lifelong sports enthusiast with a deep love for baseball, rooted in his youth and collegiate playing days. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, cheering on Husker Athletics, staying active, and spending time outdoors.

Giving back is an essential part of Derek’s life. He volunteers with Homer’s Heroes, a special needs baseball program, and serves as a Board Member for Bright Lights, where he supports initiatives that enrich lives and promote inclusivity.
