Jay Wiegman

Jay serves as a Trust Administrator within FNBO Wealth’s Trust Services group. Working from our DeKalb location, he specializes in managing the Illinois portfolio of accounts, providing clients with comprehensive administration of trusts, estates and investment accounts.

He brings a detail-oriented approach and legal expertise to help clients navigate complex fiduciary matters. Jay’s strong analytical skills and attention to detail make him particularly effective in navigating the nuances of trust administration and fiduciary responsibilities.

CREDENTIALS

Before joining FNBO in 2025, Jay built a distinguished 20-year legal career with the Office of the State of Illinois Appellate Defender. His impressive record includes authoring over 200 legal briefs and presenting more than 50 arguments across Illinois Appellate Districts, with eight cases reaching the Illinois Supreme Court. His leadership experience includes managing a team of six attorneys, demonstrating his ability to guide others through complex processes.

Jay earned his juris doctor from Northern Illinois University in 1992, building on his bachelor of general studies in English from The University of Kansas, which he completed in 1988.

PASSIONS

Outside of the office, Jay maintains an active lifestyle as a dedicated long-distance runner who has completed six marathons through the years. Family holds central importance in Jay’s life. He treasures time spent with his wife Amy and their two children. Jay particularly enjoys opportunities to connect with his family through shared activities, whether that’s training for athletic events with his daughter or playing a round of golf with his son.

Jay has an extensive history of public service and community leadership serving as a Trustee for the Village of Somonauk from 2010 to 2014, after previously counseling the Board as Village Attorney from 1999 to 2003. His commitment to community governance also includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Lake Holiday Property Owners Association from 2000 to 2006, and again from 2015 to 2024, where he held several leadership positions including President, Vice-President, and Treasurer.

Jay maintains strong ties to his alma mater, having served on the Alumni Council of the Northern Illinois University College of Law from 2016 to 2024, including two years as President. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Visitors for the NIU College of Law.
